What readers and reviewers are saying about
The Grods' Verrry Long Road Trip

I loved this book as it was so relatable: our family
also went on many road trips in our caravan
named “Cherelle.” The names and places in this story were excellent
and fun. My favourite was FlowerPowerTown, where the characters and activities had a Ukrainian connection.

Any parent who has taken children on a road trip and any child who has been a willing or unwilling passenger will take great pleasure in the entertaining antics of the Grod family as they encounter
memorable characters and experience nature on their “verrry long road trip.” Fun and imaginative!! Brilliant illustrations.
-Richard Griffiths (Whitehorse, Yukon Territory)

"A wonderful children’s book that is a must-have in every family’s home: a story that will have a family laugh and smile after every read. I can see our grandchildren nestled in with us and not wanting
the story to end. Evocative, warmly illustrated, and just-so-perfect a read for adults and children alike. We look forward to the next Grod family adventure."

A great family read! Children will enjoy the fun story of the Grod family’s road trip and the new adventure with each chapter, while parents will appreciate the author’s witty style.
-Brent Moore (Chilliwack, British Columbia)

A humorous story with many remarkable episodes
and characters. Anyone who has taken a road trip with children
will relate to this great story, and reading it to children will be enjoyable to both the reader and child. And in the end, there’s no place like home.
-Penny Martens (Chilliwack, British Columbia)

A Yukon family’s wistful (road) trip down memory lane dressed up as a children’s’ book - a fanciful kaleidoscope of northern and coastal creatures, eager repeat visits to their favourite eatery, folk music,
hippies, hitchhikers, Ukrainian dance and broken English. Those were the days!
-Herb Cohen (Calgary, Alberta)

This brought back so many good memories of my own family’s road trips. And as with the author’s Christmas story - wonderful humour!! The author has a way of incorporating different elements into his stories that suggest conversations a parent/grandparent can have while reading with a child: migrating geese, bison, campfires, sing-a-longs. Looking forward to the next Grod family adventure!!

This book tells a story that is both unique and familiar. We share the excitement and thrills of the Grod Kids on their “Verrry Long Road Trip.” It brought back childhood memories of the road trips I took with my parents and two sisters. Kids will certainly enjoy this story as they snuggle up with loved ones to hear about the Grods’ latest adventure.
I will definitely share this book with my favourite little person, Elliott.
-Phyllis Collins (Abbotsford, British Columbia)

What makes a family road trip great? The Grod family depends on food, adventure, and seeing the world through the eyes of wonder. Riding along with the Grod family feels very familiar and warmly familial. The Grods’ travel adventure is a clever and happy
piece of work.
-Joe Ogmundson (New Westminster,
British Columbia)

The Grods are off on another adventure! There’s something here to appeal to all ages as the Grod family lurches along on an extended road trip. Same journey, different experience, for each of the
Grods - and for each reader, from the very young to their grandparents!
